Greg Appel, 65, of Windom died Oct. 17, 2020, at his home in Windom.
A Celebration of Life service will be held in the spring/summer of 2021.
LaCanne Family Funeral Service of Windom is handling the funeral arrangements.
Gregory John Appel was born Aug. 10, 1955, to Arnold Appel and Phyllis (Long) Appel at Worthington Regional Hospital in Worthington. He attended school at Sacred Heart Parochial through sixth grade before graduating from Heron Lake Public High School in 1975.
Greg attended Pipestone Vo-Tech Institute, graduating in meat cutting in July 1976.
He worked in various communities in Minnesota and Iowa until he was hired at Gordy's in Windom in 1987. He eventually was named Meat Department manager in 1988.
When the Windom store closed, he transferred to Jackson Sunshine Foods and retired in 2019.
Greg enjoyed hunting deer and bear and fishing. He also enjoyed sports and collected coins and baseball cards.
Greg was treasurer of the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association, Foresters and bowling.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a baby sister, Mary Jane.
Survivors include his brothers, Gary and Keith, both of Heron Lake.
