Edna May Hansen

Edna May Hansen, 87, of rural Jeffers died Oct. 21, 2020, at her home.
A Celebration of Life service was Monday at Jeffers Baptist Church in rural Jeffers with Pastor Marvin Pederson officiating.
A private family burial was held prior to the service at Storden Baptist Cemetery in rural Storden.
LaCanne Family Funeral Service of Windom handled the funeral arrangements.
Edna May Larsen was born May 19, 1933, to Lars Larsen and Clara (Nelson) Larsen in Webster County, Iowa.
May graduated from Jeffers Public School and continued her education at Mankato State University, earning a bachelor's degree in education. She taught elementary school in various places, from Jeffers to California and several places in between.
In 1962, May married LeRoy Truman Hansen at Storden Baptist Church. They were blessed with three children: Beth, Hans and Andrew.
May served as the organist and financial secretary at Jeffers Baptist Church.
She enjoyed gardening and was a member of the local Garden Club. She enjoyed bringing joy to others with her flowers and garden produce, including tomatoes and cantaloupe. She tended many different gardens and made refrigerator pickles.
She also helped on the farm with the dairy cows, bottle feeding the calves, and whatever other tasks needed to be completed.
May will be remembered for her home-cooked meals.
She was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy Hansen; and brother-in-law, Elmer Carlblom.
Survivors include her three children: Beth (Lowell) Walters of Manila, Ark.; Hans Hansen of Zeeland, Mich.; and Andrew Hansen of LaCrescent; three grandchildren; and a sister, Leona Carlblom of Westbrook.
