Edith Morphew, 99, of Windom died Aug. 26, 2020, at her home in Windom.
A Celebration of Life service was Tuesday at Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Windom with Pastor Paul Sajban officiating.
Special music was provided by Linda Ebeling, organist; Ruth Wohlfeil and Pastor Paul Sajban.
Casket bearers were Ted Horkey, Jeff Lund, Denny Johnson, Bruce Mews, Virgil Meier and Pastor Sajban.
Honorary bearers were her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and members of Golden Age and the funeral committee.
Interment was at Memory Gardens Cemetery in rural Windom.
LaCanne Family Funeral Service of Windom handled the funeral arrangements.
Edith Agnes Horkey was born May 16, 1921, to Vladimer and Agnes (Kopeste) Horkey in Rose Hill Township of Cottonwood County. She was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Westbrook, and received her education in District 56 of Rose Hill Township.
In 1939, Edith married Clarence Morphew at Grace Lutheran Church in Westbrook. They were blessed with four children and lived in Windom.
Edith was janitor at Lutheran Church of Our Savior and did house cleaning for many years.
After Clarence's death in 1999, Edith continued living in Windom.
A longtime member of Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Windom, Edith was past chairman of the funeral committee and chairman of Vacation Bible School for many years. She also volunteered at the local food shelf for 25 years and was a member of the Red Hatters and Bone Builders clubs.
In addition to watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings, Edith also enjoyed her flowers, watching wildlife and birds near her home and spending time with family and friends.
In addition to her husband of 59 years, Clarence, Edith was preceded in death by brothers: Elmer, Sylvester, Lyle, Delton, Donald, Vernal "Bud," Darrel and Harold Horkey; and sisters: Dorothy Nichols, Evenlyn Jensen and Margaret Johnson.
Survivors include her four children: Roger Morphew, Shirley (Charles) Paden and Daniel (Kathy) Morphew, all of Windom; and Dennis (Kris) Morphew of Sioux Falls; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Marion Nelson of Arkansas; and sisters-in-law: LaMae Horkey, Mary Horkey and Millie Horkey.
