Jan Munning, 79, of Windom died June 25, 2020, at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls.
A Celebration of Life service will be held today (Wednesday) at 10:30 a.m., at Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Windom with Pastor Paul Sajban officiating.
Special music will be provided by Ruth Wohlfeil, organist.
Honorary bearers will be Jonn Michael Munning, Benjamin Scott Munning, Eric Alexander Munning, Amanda Rose Martinsen, Harlan Robert Munning, Ian Robert Martinsen, Eric Gordon Mekosch, Rose Eden Munning and Sally Elaine Munning.
LaCanne Family Funeral Service of Windom is handling the funeral arrangements.
Janet "Jan" Elaine Bentson was born Jan. 20, 1941, to Elmer and Cordula Emilie Sophie (Will) Bentson in Browns Valley. She was baptized in Browns Valley and later confirmed in Young America.
Jan received her early education in Young America and St. Paul before attending Mankato High School where she graduated in 1959. She continued her education in Maryland.
In 1962, Jan married Bob Munning in Brooklyn, N.Y. Jan moved to Windom where they made their home.
Jan was involved with Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, was a member of a local traveling softball team for 20 years and room mom in school.
She also was a longtime member of Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Windom.
She enjoyed coffee with friends, her pets and animals, woodworking and crafts, painting, collecting frogs and, most of all, her family, especially her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Bentson; brother and sisters-in-law: Edna Haffner, Jim and Pat Munning.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Bob Munning of Windom; three children: Michael (Jolene) Munning of Mt. Lake, Cathy (John) Martinsen of Windom and Kristin (Daniel) Manee of Rolla, Mo.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Bill (Carol) Bentson of Halstad; and a sister-in-law, Diane Bentson of Inver Grove Heights.
