Michael "Mike" Miller, 64, of Lamberton died May 14, 2020, at Sleepy Eye Medical Center in Sleepy Eye.
A private family service will be held at the Lamberton Cemetery.
Sturm Funeral Home of Lamberton is handling the funeral arrangements.
Michael "Mike" James Miller was born Feb. 5, 1956, to James and Janet (Quade) Miller in Springfield. He was baptized and later confirmed at Highwater Lutheran Church in Cottonwood County.
He received his education at Jeffers Elementary and Storden-Jeffers High School, graduating in 1974. He excelled as a first baseman in baseball and played wide receiver and defensive end in football, earning Red Rock Conference honorable mention. In basketball, he was a center on the Storden-Jeffers Chiefs basketball team that won the Red Rock Conference his senior year.
Mike received a basketball scholarship to Bethany Lutheran Junior College in Mankato, where he was a two-year starter. He earned his Associate of Arts degree from the school in 1976.
After college, Mike followed in his parents' footsteps and farmed. He then worked at the Jeffers American Legion and was later employed at Christensen Farms (Sleepy Eye) as a breeding technician. From 2010 to 2018, he worked as a wean finish manager at Schwartz Farms near Tracy.
Mike enjoyed fishing, watching sports, telling jokes and taking long drives in the country with his partner of 21 years, Katie Foss. He always wanted to know how people and their families were doing and will be remembered for having a big heart.
He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Shelly Miller.
Survivors include his partner, Katie Foss; her three daughters: Emily Obermiller, Amanda Lam and Liz Foss; Katie's five grandchildren; and Mike's four siblings: Sherry (Michael) Feeney, Stacey (James) Snyder and Corey (Wendy) Miller, all of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and Reid (Deb) Miller of Storden.
