Edith Johnson, 96, of Newton, Kan., formerly of Windom, died March 27, 2020.
Edith Ilene Bundy was born March 26, 1924, to Ernest and Ethel Bundy in Fairmont, Mo. She graduated from Peabody High School in Peabody, Kan., in 1942.
Edith married her high school sweetheart, Harold Johnson Sr., in 1942. They lived in seven states and developed many friends across the country.
Edith enjoyed sending cards with cheerful and newsy thoughts to those friends and family on birthdays, anniversaries and most holidays. She also enjoyed dancing and, at one point, coaxed Harold to square dance.
A lifelong member of the Methodist Church, Edith most recently attended chapel services at Presbyterian Manor in Newton, Kan.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Virginia Rose Campbell and Marion Graber; brothers, Lewis Bundy and Russell Bundy; and granddaughter, Mona Johnson.
Survivors include her husband of 77 years, Harold Johnson Sr. of Newton, Kan.; children: Harold Jr. (Tina) Johnson of Chapel Hill, N.C.; Carolyn Johnson and her husband Dennis Kalfas of Citrus Heights, Calif.; Fred (Lynette) Johnson of Glenwood Springs, Colo.; and Alan (Dee) Johnson of Phoenix, Ariz.; four grandsons; and six great-grandchildren.
