James "Jim" Sotebeer, 51, of Sioux Falls, formerly of Windom, died Jan. 25, 2020, in Sioux Falls.
A funeral mass was Thursday at St. Michael Parish in Sioux Falls.
Visitation, prayer service and rosary were Wednesday at Miller Funeral Home, Miller Westside Chapel, in Sioux Falls.
James Andrew Sotebeer was born Jan. 26, 1968, to Andrew and Tommie (Oliver) Sotebeer in Rochester. He was raised in Windom, attended Windom Area Schools and graduated from Windom Area High School in 1986, where he was accomplished in basketball, football and baseball.
He attended Mankato State University, graduating in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science degree in business.
Jim moved to Sioux Falls and began working in the retention and compliance departments at Citibank. In April 2019, Jim began working for Bancorp, where he currently was employed as a compliance analyst.
An avid Minnesota Vikings fan, Jim attended a number of games with friends and family. In addition to being a football fan, he was an all-around sports fan and enjoyed following baseball, hockey, golf and basketball.
The center of Jim's life was his faith and family. Jim attended all of his children's activities and supported their academic achievements.
Extended family was equally important. Jim, his wife Becca and their children took several trips to join other family members for outings and reunions.
A member of St. Michael Parish, Jim also was a member of Knights of Columbus.
He will be remembered for his larger-than-life personality and friendly, outgoing spirit.
He was preceded in death by his father, Andrew Sotebeer.
Survivors include his wife, Becca Sotebeer, and children, Nate Sotebeer and Megan Sotebeer, all of Sioux Falls; his mother, Tommie Sotebeer, and sister, Mary Sotebeer, both of Windom.
