Catherine "Cathy" Vaupel, 80, of Westbrook died Jan. 14, 2020, at Sanford Worthington Medical Center in Worthington.
Mass of Christian Burial was Monday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Westbrook.
Interment was at Westbrook Cemetery.
Stephens Funeral Service-Westbrook Funeral Home in Westbrook handled the funeral arrangements.
Catherine "Cathy" Will was born Oct. 26, 1939, to Gale and Elvern "Tudy" (Steinle) Will in Lafayette, Ind.
She attended school in Walnut Grove and the University of Minnesota School of Nursing.
In 1962, Cathy married Harold Vaupel at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Walnut Grove. She worked as a nurse at various hospitals in the Westbrook area and Westbrook Nursing Home.
Cathy also was involved in her community through her church, hospital auxiliary and other organizations. She was involved despite dealing with the challenges of multiple sclerosis.
She enjoyed time with her family, especially her grandchildren on the farm. She also enjoyed visits from friends and time spent with her nieces and nephews. She enjoyed cooking, baking (always eager to try a new recipe) and friends and family enjoyed her rice pudding, pizelles, krumkake and cookies she turned out during the holidays.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Vaupel; and a brother-in-law, Cedric Christensen.
Survivors include her children, Karen Gries of Blaine and Mike Vaupel (Kizzy Gaul) of Farley, Iowa; six grandchildren; a great-grandson; and a sister, Patty Christensen of Milroy.
