Leonard Holtz, 86, of Rosholt, S.D., formerly of Windom, died Dec. 25, 2019, at Coteau des Prairies Hospital in Sisseton, S.D.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m., at American Lutheran Church in Windom with Pastor Adam Roberts officiating.
Special music will be provided by Carol Vought, organist.
Honorary bearers will be Leonard's grandchildren.
Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 206 of Windom.
Interment will be at a later date at Memory Gardens Cemetery in rural Windom.
Visitation will be held today (Wednesday) from 4 to 7 p.m., at LaCanne Family Funeral Home in Windom and continue Thursday at the church for one hour prior to the service.

Leonard Leroy Holtz was born Oct. 6, 1933, to Henry P. and Esther (Klindt) Holtz in Fox Lake. He was baptized and confirmed at American Lutheran Church in Windom.
Leonard attended school in Windom, graduating from Windom High School in 1952.
He entered the U.S. Army in 1954, serving in the Korean War before he was honorably discharged in 1956.
In 1956, Leonard married Phyllis Hanson at American Lutheran Church in Windom. He worked as a welder at The Toro Company in Windom for 40 years before retiring in 1998 and moving to Rosholt, S.D., a year later.
Leonard was a member of the DNR, Bingham Lake City Council and Bingham Lake Fire Department. He also belonged to the Cottonwood County Game and Fish League.
When his son, Jim, was in Boy Scouts, Leonard did a lot of camping and helped with projects, especially Jim's Eagle Scout project which involved making picnic benches and cleaning up beaches.
Leonard enjoyed duck hunting and fishing with friends and his sons. He passed that passion to his sons. Several years ago, he took fishing trips to a northern Minnesota resort, where he caught a couple of trophy walleyes.
Leonard also enjoyed stock car races, gardening and helping his wife can vegetables. He also enjoyed playing Dominos and cards with neighbors and friends. Most of all, Leonard enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-granddaughters, especially watching them play in the lake.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Smith; an infant brother, William; infant great-grandtwins, Tori and Tyler; and great-great-granddaughter, Lily.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Phyllis Holtz of Rosholt, S.D.; children: Jerome (Tammy) Holtz and James (Patricia) Holtz, all of Bingham Lake; Eugene (Renee) Holtz of Tea, S.D.; Cindy (Devon) Baerg of Butterfield; and Brenda Holtz of Rosholt, S.D.; 22 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two great-great-granddaughters; and a brother, Wayne (Mary Lee) Holtz of Marcell.
