Orlo 'Buzz' Hotzler

Orlo "Buzz" Hotzler, age 88, of Mt. Lake went to his heavenly home on Dec. 20, 2019, at Foundation Hospice Cottage in Sioux Falls.
Visitation was on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2019, at Bethel Mennonite Church in Mt. Lake, from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m.
A Celebration of Life was held at the Bethel Mennonite Church, Mt. Lake, on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. The clergy will be Pastor Galen Kauffman.
Private interment was at the Mt. Lake City Cemetery in Mt Lake.
Arrangements were with the Sturm Funeral Home in Mt. Lake. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sturmfh.com.
Buzz, the son of Bern-hart "Barney" Hotzler and Wilhelmine "Minne" (Dickman), was born in Mt. Lake on March 21, 1931. Buzz grew up in Mt. Lake where he graduated from high school in1949. He earned 11 athletic letters in four sports and participated in two basketball state tournaments.
Orlo married Donne Lohrenz June 29, 1949. To this union (twins) Becky and Bryon were born.
Through the years Buzz worked at Co-Op Creamery, Franz Store, Jack & Jill Grocery, Laker Electric and retired to repair and collect valuable (junk) items.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing; spending time with friends, church family, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Buzz is survived by his wife, Donne, Mt. Lake; Bryon (Laura) Hotzler, Eatonton, Ga.; Becky Heinitz (Jim), Brandon S.D.; grand and great-grandchildren: Stacy (Kelly) Scholten - Zach, Thomas, and Sam; Adam (Sandra) Heinitz - Ella, Maya, Jake and Drew; Heather (Alex) Lowry - Jackson and Hadley; sisters: Odette (Bob) Fast and Janice Hiebert.
He is preceded in death by his parents and eight siblings.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to The Lodge of Mt. Lake and Sanford Hospice for their care and kindness.
On behalf of the family we extend our heartfelt appreciation for all the friendship and love extended to Buzz and Donne.
