Ardella "Della" Nelson, 83, of Pequot Lakes, formerly of Mt. Lake, died Sept. 28, 2019, at Senior Class Care Center in Pequot Lakes.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m., at Grace United Methodist Church, 29318 Patriot Ave., in Pequot Lakes, with Pastor Gary Liker officiating.
Visitation will be held Saturday at the church for one hour prior to the service.
Northern Peace Funeral Home of Walker is handling the funeral arrangements.
Ardella Louise Johnson was born Dec. 11, 1935, to Albert and Linea Johnson in Mt. Lake. She was raised in Mt. Lake and attended country school.
At age 16, she began working at Butterfield produce.
Della met the love of her life at the local roller skating rink and in 1954, she and David Nelson were married. Together they raised five children.
Della worked nights at Fingerhut, then worked with her husband laying carpet and vinyl flooring. They owned Fireside Carpet in Nisswa, then Bay Carpet & Tile in Walker.
Della enjoyed cooking, baking, canning and tending her flowers.
She will be remembered for her faithfulness in daily devotions and belief in God, as well as being a hard working woman.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Cheyann; a great-grandson, Isaac; sisters, Lorraine and Darlene; and brothers, Verne and George.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, David; a daughter, Terry (Rick); four sons: Jeff (Vicki), Todd (Traci), Kory (Deanna) and Chad (Lisa); brothers, Lee and Les Johnson; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
