Sharon Baloun, 81, of Lakefield, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2019, at the Good Samaritan Society in Windom.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2019, at 10 a.m., at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lakefield with Father Johnathan Fasnacht officiating.
Burial was at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery immediately following the funeral service.
A visitation took place on Friday, Aug. 23, from 5 to 7 p.m., with a rosary service at 7 p.m., at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lakefield and continued one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
In lieu of flowers memorial are preferred.

Sharon Ann Baloun, daughter of Earl and Arlene (Heighton) Hoben, was born on April 9, 1938, in Emmetsburg, Iowa. She grew up in Ruthven, Iowa, and was baptized and confirmed into the Roman Catholic faith.
She graduated as valedictorian in the class of 1956 from Ruthven High School. She went on to earn her teaching certification from Estherville Community College.
At the Fox Lake Ballroom, she first met Francis "Frank" Baloun and the two were married at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ruthven on June 8, 1959. The couple moved to Lakefield, where Sharon remained until transitioning into assisted living in Windom in 2018.
Sharon passed away at the Sogge Good Samaritan Society on Aug. 20, 2019, at the age of 81 years, 4 months and 11 days.
Sharon was passionate about children and education. She taught at the Heron Lake Catholic parochial school and was a public-school substitute teacher up until her twin sons were born in 1968. Then she began Playhouse Preschool, first in her home and then at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lakefield, which she continued until the early 2000s.
She was very active in her parish, serving as education coordinator, president of the ladies' aide and taught catechism.
Sharon also took continuing education courses at Mankato State University.
She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crafting and shopping. Sharon was a fan of classic films, enjoyed the winters she spent in Arizona and liked to keep up on her grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's many activities.
Sharon is survived by her sons, Al Baloun of Windom; Greg (Dee) Baloun of Lake Park, Iowa; Scott (Laura) Baloun of Buffalo; and Steve (Tammy) Baloun of Monticello; daughter, Barb (Roger) Finnegan of Cottage Grove; 16 grandchildren: Jared, Trevor, Brady, Brianna, Callie, Mike, David, Jon, Riley, Kyle, Mason, Mckenzie, Kadence, Ryan, Mikayla, and Matt; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Bill (Julie) Hoben of Coralville, Iowa; sister, Martha (Ken) Dyer of Ruthven, Iowa; brother-in-law, Roger Krieg of Ruthven, Iowa; sister-in-law, Joan Hoben of Laurens, Iowa; and lifelong friend, Shirley Ukasick of Estherville, Iowa.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Arlene Hoben; Frank Baloun, her husband of 49 years; daughter-in-law, Pat Baloun; brother, James; and sisters, Shirley and Ellen.
