Rick Kirstein, 55, of Appleton, Wis., formerly of Wilder, died Aug. 22, 2019, at Century Oaks in Appleton, after a battle with liver failure.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m., at American Lutheran Church in Windom with Pastor Sarah Larsen Tade officiating.
Special music will be provided by Carol Vought, organist; and Kent Mickelson, vocalist.
Casket bearers will by Ryan Conway, Mark Hochstein, John Fawcett, Jerry Kliber, Chris Kliber and Dan Kliber.
Honorary bearers will be Bob Myer and Paul Hacker.
Burial will follow at Delafield Township Cemetery in rural Windom.
Visitation will precede the service Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m., at the church in Windom.
LaCanne Family Funeral Service of Windom is handling the funeral arrangements.
Ricky Lee Kirstein was born Feb. 1, 1964, to Robert and Carol (Nelson) Kirstein in Windom. He was baptized and confirmed at Delafield Lutheran Church in rural Jackson County.
Rick received his education in Windom Area Schools, graduating from Windom Area High School in 1983. He furthered his education for aviation technician at Lakes Area Technical College in Watertown, S.D.
In 1983, Rick married Cindy Schafer at Delafield Lutheran Church. They were blessed with two children, Katy and Alex. They lived in Appleton, Wis., where Rick worked for KC Aviation for nine years until it was acquired by Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation in 1998. He worked for Gulfstream another 16 years.
After their marriage was dissolved in 2007, Rick met Diane Hauschel in 2009. They were special friends for 10 years.
Rick enjoyed fishing; hunting; gardening; woodworking; cooking; dancing, especially to Patsy Cline's "Crazy"; camping, especially at the cabin in Brainerd; and, most of all, spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Kirstein in October 2018.
Survivors include his two children: Katy (TJ) Behling of Appleton, Wis.; and Alex Kirstein of Shiocton, Wis.; three grandchildren; his mother, Carol Kirstein of Wilder; special friend, Diane Hauschel of Kaukauna, Wis.; mother to Katy and Alex, Cindy Oakley of Menominee, Wis.; and two sisters, Robin Crosby of Wilder and Shelly (Mark) Hochstein of Kasota.
