Patricia Miller

Patricia Miller, 87, of Windom died June 29, 2019, at Windom Area Health.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m., at Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Windom with Pastor Paul Sajban officiating.
Special music will be provided by MicheLe Larson, pianist; Ruth Wohlfeil, organist; and Pastor Paul Sajban and Lutheran Church of Our Savior Choir, vocalists.
Honorary bearers will be Jim and Jeanette Schuur, Frances Swenson, Marlene Nordquist, LeAnn Steere, Connie Hauge, Verna Jans, Dee Determan, Cindy Knabe and Joan Johnson.
Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Windom.
Visitation will be held Friday from 5 to 8 p.m., at LaCanne Family Funeral Home in Windom and continue Saturday at the church for one hour prior to the service.
LaCanne Family Funeral Service of Windom is handling the funeral arrangements.
Patricia Ann Nolte was born May 10, 1932, to Clarence and Viola Nolte in Fairmont. She was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fairmont and confirmed in 1946 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Mason City, Iowa.
At age 3, Pat moved with her family from Fairmont to Blue Earth. After finishing fourth grade, she and her family moved to Mason City, Iowa, then to Mankato for her senior year of high school and graduation.
Pat graduated from Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato with an Associate Arts degree in 1952, then married Donald R. Miller that summer.
Don served in the U.S. Air Force in Germany during their first two years of marriage, while Pat taught at St. Peter Lutheran School in rural Lakefield.
When Don returned from Germany, he was stationed at Albuquerque, N.M., where he and Pat lived for two years. After Don was discharged from the air force, they returned to Mankato where Don earned his bachelor's degree.
They moved to Worthington where he took a teaching position. He also taught in Brewster after receiving his master's degree and later in Windom as a school counselor.
In addition to teaching, Pat also worked as a deputy clerk in Cottonwood County Court for 10 years. After receiving her bachelor's degree from Mankato State University in 1986 at age 54, Pat worked at Cottonwood-Jackson Community Health Services for 25 years.
Over the years, Pat served her church as cherub choir director and confirmation choir director and facilitated grief and loss support groups for 13 years. She also taught Sunday School, confirmation class, sang in the church choir, and interviewed and wrote introductions to new members. She sent bereavement packets and was a member of LWML, while also hosting Joanna Circle catered Christmas dinners for 17 years.
Pat was secretary for the newly-formed Windom Friends of the Library advisory board and served as secretary of the Windom Area Sharing Center board.
She enjoyed writing poetry and songs, quilting, knitting, tending her flower garden and playing cards.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Don; and a pre-born son.
Survivors include her children: Douglas (Mary), Denise, David (Christe) and Ann (John) Gannon; four grandchildren; and two sisters, Joyce (Paul) Faga and Liz (Ken) Kamprath.
