Cora Brugman, 99, of Windom died May 31, 2019, at Good Samaritan Society-Sogge Memorial in Windom.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m., at American Lutheran Church in Windom with Pastor Adam Roberts officiating.
Special music will be provided by Carol Vought, organist; and Jean Johnson, vocalist.
Casket bearers will be Dan Locke, David Locke, Donna Hinsey, Rhonda Johnson, Marshall Johnson, Shelley Widmer, Angela Krueger and Jody Nelson.
Burial will follow at Delafield Township Cemetery in rural Windom.
Visitation will be held today (Wednesday) from 5 to 7 p.m., at LaCanne Family Funeral Home in Windom and continue Thursday at the church for one hour prior to the service.
LaCanne Family Funeral Service of Windom is handling the funeral arrangements.
Cora Mabel Frederickson was born May 24, 1920, to Albert O. and Clara A. (Estenson) Frederickson in Heron Lake. Cora was baptized and later confirmed at Delafield Evangelical Lutheran Church in rural Wilder.
She received her early education in District 115 in Wilder before graduating from Windom High School in 1937.
In 1937, Cora married Lyman Oliver Bacon and lived in Windom. They were blessed with five children: Allen, Barbara, Carol, Dale and Elaine.
Lyman died in 1971.
In 1975, Cora married Eldon Peter Brugman. Eldon died in 1983. For many years thereafter, Cora and John Moede were good friends until his death.
Over the years, Cora worked at The Toro Company in Windom until retiring in 1990 after 39 years. She began working at the plant three months after it opened and was one of the first women to work there. She also was recording secretary of Local IAM-CIO for 20 years.
In 2008, Cora became a resident of Mikkelsen Manor in Windom and in 2012, moved to Good Samaritan Society-Sogge Memorial in Windom.
A longtime member of Delafield Evangelical Lutheran Church until its closing, Cora became a member of American Lutheran Church in Windom. In both churches, she belonged to Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America and sang in the choir while a member of Delafield Lutheran.
She also served as treasurer of the Delafield Township Cemetery Association for many years and was on the executive board of the Windom Hospital Auxiliary, where she also served as treasurer for 20 years.
Cora enjoyed belonging to several card clubs, sewing, traveling, coffee parties, golfing (which she started at age 70), cooking and baking.
In addition to her two husbands, Cora was preceded in death by a son, Dale Bacon; a daughter, Carol Johnson; sons-in-law, Jay Locke and Doug Johnson; and a brother, Orvil Frederickson.
Survivors include her children: Allen Bacon of Reynolds, Ind.; Barbara (special friend Lloyd Rauch) Locke of Warner Robins, Ga.; and Elaine (James L.) Nelson of Windom; daughter-in-law, Doris Bacon of Windom; step-families: Doug and Jon Brugman families of Arizona; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
