Bernice Ryker, 84, of Jeffers died May 31, 2019, at her home in rural Jeffers.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m., at United Methodist Church in Jeffers with Pastor Wesley Johnson officiating.
Special music will be provided by Anna Hochstein, pianist; and Morgen Pederson, vocalist.
Honorary bearers will be Lee Hanish, Todd Rhubee, Larry Eichstadt, Scott Hill, Roger Hemiller, Rodney Fruehling, Rodney Missling and Raymond Marsh.
Interment will follow at Jeffers Cemetery in rural Jeffers.
Visitation will be held Saturday at the church for one hour prior to the service.
LaCanne Family Funeral Service of Windom is handling the funeral arrangements.
Bernice Ann Prins was born Oct. 2, 1934, to Tebbo and Jeannette (Finger) Prins on the farm home in Amboy Township of Cottonwood County. The sixth of 11 children, Bernice was baptized and later confirmed at Jeffers United Methodist Church.
Bernice received her education in Jeffers Public Schools, graduating in 1952.
In 1952, Bernice married Lawrence "Jack" Jackson Ryker at Jeffers United Methodist Church. They were blessed with four children - Cathy, Pamela, Steven and Lee - and farmed near Jeffers. Bernice helped on the farm until retiring at age 70.
Through the years, Bernice also worked at the Ambulatory Care Center in Jeffers for many years and volunteered at the Swan Lake Day Activity Center in Delft.
A lifetime member of Jeffers United Methodist Church, Bernice taught Sunday School, was an MYF leader, a member of the Ruth Circle UMW, attended UMC conferences for four years and assisted in the kitchen at church functions.
She will be remembered for her chocolate chip cookies at coffee time and her raspberry dessert.
God, church and her family were everything to her.
She was preceded in death by an infant grandson, Jackson Harder; a half-brother, Clyde (Bonnie) Prins; two brothers, Robert Prins and Marvin (Mary Lou) Prins; and sisters: LaDonna (Myron) Eucken, Beatrice Vining and Arlene (Arlen) Meyer.
Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Lawrence "Jack" Ryker of Jeffers; four children: Cathy (Tim) Carlblom, Steven (Cindy) Ryker and Lee (LuAnn) Ryker, all of Jeffers; and Pamela (Lynden) Carter of Motley; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; siblings: Norm (Ruth) Prins of Mankato; Kenneth (Shirley) Prins and Janet Prins, all of Jeffers; and Richard Prins of Roseville; a sister-in-law, Marjorie Prins of Storden; and a brother-in-law, David Vining of Hermosa, S.D.
