Kenneth "Ken" Winker was born Dec. 20, 1936, to Lawrence E. and Regina J. (Booth) Winker in Carroll, Iowa. He was baptized in Mt. Carmel, Iowa, and confirmed in 1950 at St. John's Catholic Church in Arcadia, Iowa.
Ken grew up in Mt. Carmel and Arcadia and received his education at St. John's in Arcadia.
In 1958, Ken married Roselyn Catherine Leiting at St. John's Catholic Church in Arcadia. They lived in Arcadia until 1966, where Ken was self-employed and worked on the milk route. When they moved to a farm south of Mt. Lake, he began a farming operation and drove truck. When he retired in 1995, Ken and Rose moved to Windom.
An important part of Ken's life was his career, which allowed him to travel the United States. Maine, New Hampshire, Connecticut and Rhode Island were the only four states Ken didn't visit during his years of truck driving. His favorite places were Montana, and Yellowstone and Glacier national parks.
Ken also worked as a security officer for special events and served as a Kimball Township Supervisor.
Ken enjoyed watching sports, riding horses and riding motorcycles.
He will be remembered as a devoted, humorous and confident man, with a strong work ethic, who worked hard to succeed and provide a stable, happy life for his family.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Eric Boone Hacker; and siblings: Berdell "Bud" Winker, Louise Heinrichs and Marlene Roling.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Rose Winker; seven children: Rita (Tim) Hacker, Marcia (Terry) Libra and Roger Winker, all of Windom; Judy Sandbo of Sioux Falls; David (Judy) Winker of Evansville, Wis.; Diane (Paul) Schroeder of Eldorado, Wis.; and Teresa (Robert) Meuser of Burnsville; 23 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and four siblings: Alice Kramer of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Shirley (Ron) Leiting of Carroll, Iowa; Pat (Vern) Berg of Kansas City, Mo.; and Virginia (Leroy) Schultes of Templeton, Iowa.
