Daniel "Dan" Raverty, 90, of Windom died Feb. 7, 2019, at Good Samaritan Society-Sogge Memorial in Windom.
A Celebration of Life service was Monday at Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Windom with Pastor Paul Sajban officiating.
Special music was provided by Ruth Wohlfeil, organist.
Casket bearers were Eric Winters, Asa Posner, Nathan Wildermuth, Don Johnson, Jim Vellema and Scott Oltmans.
Honorary pallbearers were Ernie Swenson, Frederick Frederickson, Ken Winters, Allison Posner, Sarah Winters, Aubrey Winters, Kendrick Winters and Oliver Winters.
Burial with full military honors provided by American Legion Post 206 of Windom was at Memory Gardens Cemetery in rural Windom.
LaCanne Family Funeral Service of Windom handled the funeral arrangements.
Daniel Kenneth Raverty was born Nov. 22, 1928, to George and Mary (Baier) Raverty in New Ulm. He was baptized in New Ulm and later confirmed at Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Windom.
In 1950, he married Helenn Ann Bretzlaff. They were blessed with two daughters, Connie and Lori.
Dan worked for Iverson Transportation from 1946 until entering the U.S. Army in 1952.
After returning home in 1954, Dan worked for Coop Oil Association, Nelson Motor, Larson 66 and Staples Oil delivering petroleum. He retired in 1993.
In retirement, he drove gravel truck part-time for Windom Ready Mix.
Dan was a longtime member of Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Windom where he ushered. He also helped with Meals on Wheels and was a member of the Heart Support Group and the Night Owls at GSS-Sogge Memorial in Windom.
Dan enjoyed his farm toys and Hot Wheels collection. He loved his grandchildren and often would share pictures of them with people. He also enjoyed refinishing furniture and woodworking. Dan and Helenn attended many craft shows together.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Harold Raverty and Thomas Raverty; and sisters: Dolores Ready, Beatrice Sitton, Dorothy Kruckeberg and Elaine Morrison.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Helenn; two daughters, Connie Raverty of Flandreau, S.D.; and Lori (Ken) Winters of Worthington; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and seven siblings: Richard (Dorothy) Raverty, Ron (Ruth) Raverty, Patrick (Mary Lee) Raverty and Mary (Gordon) Skarset, all of Windom; LaDonna Tyrell of Slayton; David Raverty of Georgia; and Michael (Sharon) Raverty of Worthington.
