Sally Peterson, 93, of Bella Vista, Ark., formerly of Windom, died Oct. 18, 2018, at Innisfree Care Facility in Rogers, Ark.
A memorial service will be held Nov. 9 at 10:30 a.m., at Bella Vista United Methodist Church.
Burial of ashes will be at Fayetteville National Cemetery following the service.
The family also will receive friends after the service.
Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory is handling the funeral arrangements.
Sally Lee Lindberg was born May 13, 1925, to Claude G. and Marcia S. Lindberg in Media, Pa. She graduated from Staples High School in Westport, Conn., in 1943.
Sally met Lee E. Peterson at her maternal grandparents' summer resort, Dixie Lodge, on Balsam Lake in Wisconsin. They were married in 1944 at Dixie Lodge.
While Lee, a dentist and officer in the U.S. Army, was sent overseas, Sally completed two years of college at the University of Kentucky.
In 1946, after the war, she and Lee moved to Windom, where Lee practiced dentistry for many years and Sally was a homemaker.
In 1984, Sally and Lee retired to the retirement community of Bella Vista, Ark.
Over the years, Sally enjoyed golf, bridge, reading, art and involvement in ladies aid and circles at United Methodist Church. She also was instrumental in starting the Boy Scout fundraiser turkey dinners through Blue Mound, which continued for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Dr. Lee Peterson; and a brother, John, who died in childhood.
Survivors include her four children: Gregory (Cathy) Peterson of Windom; Andrew (Jeen) Peterson of Toronto, Canada; Brian (Cheri) Peterson of Inola, Okla.; and Catherine (Robert) Haar of Clarkston, Mich.; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Elizabeth Flint of Westport, Conn.; and Colin (Cecelia) Lindberg of Burlington, Vt.
