Grace Jenny Peterson, 100, of Windom died Feb. 3, 2018, at Lakeview Assisted Living in Heron Lake.
A Celebration of Life service was Saturday at American Lutheran Church in Windom with Pastor Hank Campbell officiating.
Special music was provided by Karen Wojahn, organist/harpist.
Casket bearers were Ross Peterson, Angela Vermeer, Rustin Peterson, Riley Peterson, Michael Peterson, Lisha Drowne, Rand Peterson, Kristin Juhlin and Tehia White.
Burial was at Memory Gardens Cemetery in rural Windom.
LaCanne Family Funeral Service of Windom handled the funeral arrangements.
Grace Jenny Lillegaard was born Feb. 13, 1917, to Jacob Anonsen and Adina Christina (Loken) Lillegaard in Delafield Township of Jackson County.
She received her education in Jackson County country school District 22 before graduating from Windom Public Schools in 1937. Grace worked for Vera's Dress Shop, then the Cottonwood County Extension while playing on a traveling kitten ball team.
In 1950, Grace married Oscar LeRoy Peterson at Windom Evangelical Free Church. They were blessed with three sons, Dennis, Rod and Lee, and lived on a farm in Amo Township near Storden. They moved to Windom in 1977, where she worked for Wynne Hardware and the Wolff's Store.
While living in Amo Township, Grace was a member of Amo Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School, was the choir director and a member of ladies circle.
After Oscar's death in 2004, Grace continued to live in Windom until becoming a resident of Lakeview Assisted Living in Heron Lake.
Grace was a longtime member of American Lutheran Church in Windom, where she helped with lefse making. She also volunteered as an election judge.
Grace enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking Norwegian dishes, playing the concertina, writing in her diaries and spending time with family and friends. She also was an avid Minnesota Twins fan.
In addition to her husband Oscar, Grace was preceded in death by seven brothers: Howard, Lawrence, Anon, Victor, Kermit, Sigurd and Kenneth Lillegaard; and a sister, Alma Shippman.
Survivors include her three sons: Dennis (Patti) Peterson of Pipestone; Rod (Janel) Peterson of Omaha, Neb.; and Lee (Sandy) Peterson of Windom; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
