Carpenter's passing is a big loss for Windom sports community
The Windom sports community suffered a significant loss this week with the passing of one of the biggest Windom Eagle sports fans I know.
Joe Carpenter passed away Monday at the age of 97.
Up until last year, Joe was a fixture at just about any Eagle sporting event. You could usually see him in the southeast corner of the Blue Gym, usually shooting the breeze with other spectators.

Have You Backed Up Lately?
Just a quick reminder this week that backing up your computer is extremely important if you have any files or pictures that you don't want to lose.

A ban on robocalls?
I'm sure most of us have had this happen:
Your cell phone rings and you instinctively check the screen for a number. There's an audible sigh of relief as you spot a local area code and prefix.
You hit the "accept" button, only to hear a recorded voice say, "Hello! Are you interested in a huge savings on a trip to Florida?"

End of the Youngers, fall fishing, pheasants
The Jesse James and Younger brothers gangs were a rough, tough bunch of outlaws in the 1870s. To some extent they were still fighting the Civil War, seeking revenge through guerilla tactics. They thought a bank robbery in Minnesota would do two things; punish the north and enhance their own wealth.
A few weeks ago I wrote about the Northfield bank attempt where the citizens essentially said, not in our town.
