$300,000 study is for the birds
At least once a year, a near-sighted bird flies into the rear picture window at my house and drops dead.
I feel bad for the bird, but there are no plans to add "bird safe" coating to our windows. My window came to mind upon spotting recent stories on the long-anticipated U.S. Bank Stadium bird study.

Deer handle tough winters better than other wildlife
Now, I'm not saying deer had it easy the last two drastic southwest Minnesota winters. I saw several individuals that wouldn't make it many more nights. They were mostly fawns born too late or they lost mama doe from road accidents before they were weaned off nursing milk.
