As you reached for this week's Citizen, you probably noticed that it is a bit heavier than usual. That is due to the hefty second section which explores the beautiful new Windom Area Elementary School. It ranks with the most important sections we've produced in my 32 years at the Citizen. As many residents know, the pandemic prevented the Windom School District from hosting a true grand opening for our school. Maybe we'll see a celebration and tours sometime in 2021 after this all blows over. In the meantime, the best way to show off our school is through stories and photos on the pages of the Cottonwood County Citizen. Meanwhile, a nearly identical situation emerged up the road. Mt. Lake Public's equally impressive $13 million remodeling/expansion project opens next week. That project was unveiled this week through a full-color second section in our sister publication, the Mt. Lake-Butterfield Observer/Advocate. Our staff put a tremendous amount of work into these projects and the editions look terrific. However, we could not have done it without superb input from administration and staffs at both districts. We tip our hat to them.
