One week to go
Well, here we are again, Windows 7 expires on January 14, 2020. This means no more updates to your system, and most updates at this point are for security purposes. Therefore, it is more likely that you are going to get viruses from going to popular websites like Facebook, for example. The hackers and scammers know this cutoff date as well and are most likely going to ramp up their efforts starting next week.
If you still have a machine on Windows 7, we can check your computer to see if we think it will take the Windows 10 upgrade, or if it's even worth it. The other, and most likely, option is to replace your computer. Many of the computers that we've seen come into our store are just too old to handle Windows 10 and are at the point where they just need to be replaced.
If you are wondering about your computer and what you should do, give us a call or stop by the Citizen office. Just a heads up, though: We are very busy with other Windows 7 machines and with other computer issues right now so it may be awhile before you get your computer back. We have a first-come, first-served policy, so please don't expect to bring it in and have it back in a couple days. We will get to your computer as soon as we can, but just know we have many other projects going on as well.
Thank you in advance for your patience.
