In recent years, the Windom Area Girls Fastpitch Association has taken on several improvement projects for the facilities at the Windom Recreation Area's softball fields. Among the ones in recent years are an inning-by-inning scoreboard on Eagle Field and decorative fence screens. But recently, a new decorative statue was installed near the main entrance to the complex. The statue has a bronze eagle with its wings spread, perched on top of a softball. The eagle and ball sit atop a granite pedestal. I hope to have a photo of the statue for next week's paper. It's quite a stunning addition to the complex. Thanks to WAGFA for its continued work to improve the aesthetics and facilities at the WRA. Coaching milestone A Windom graduate achieved a significant coaching milestone recently. Diane (Stolle) Ross, who is the head volleyball coach at Underwood High School in West-Central Minnesota, recorded her 700th career coaching victory recently.
