Headlines that bring chuckles
Lately, I've seen too many members of the media taking themselves far too seriously.
Maybe it's a defense mechanism. The media, particularly TV news, has taken a lot of hits lately - some well-deserved and some is a bit of old-fashioned "blame the messenger" syndrome.
I should add that it is not just the media, either. In the past few years, I've seen more social media junkies taking themselves far too seriously.
So, it feels like a good time to show some humility and provide much-needed levity at the same time. Here are some of the best headline goof-ups from America's well-intentioned editors. Enjoy:
• Forecasters call for weather on Monday.
• Homicide victims rarely talk to police.
• 'We hate math,' say 4 in 10 - a majority of Americans.
• Weight Watchers demonstrator shoplifts cupcakes.
• World Bank says poor need more money.
• Miracle cure kills fifth patient.
• Statistics show that teen pregnancy drops off significantly after age 25.
• Man found dead in graveyard.
• Marijuana issue sent to a joint committee.
• Survey finds fewer deer after hunt.
• China may be using sea to hide its submarines.
• Federal agents raid gun shop, find weapons.
• Barbershop singers bring joy to school for deaf.
