Some of the best stories I hear are those that start with a shred of truth and then spiral out of control. The source of rumors often begins with lack of information. In a vacuum where there's no news, people will simply make up their own reality. On that note, I'll share a few local activities and try to clear the air. Cemstone land I've also been asked if the land swap - between the city and Cemstone (old Windom Ready Mix site) - is dead. No it is not. Cemstone is still interested in land adjacent to the North Windom Industrial Park. Now that the crop has been harvested, crews will take soil samples. Also, negotiations are not yet done between the two parties. City, not Hy-Vee People have asked if Hy-Vee is adding on to its north side. That would be great, but no, that's not the case. Rather, it is part of the city electric department project. The city is putting up a building to house electrical equipment. Hotel project One of the worst-kept secrets is that an AmericInn is on the verge of construction next to Windom Floor and Sleep. Tax Increment Financing is in place, as are key permits and other details. Nothing is official, but it appears we could see work begin before the ground freezes. Check the Citizen for updates.
