11/4/2020 10:58:00 AM As city grows, grocery supply remains a worry

I agree with the Oct. 28 letter to the editor regarding population growth and the limitations of our local grocery store. However, first I want to acknowledge the friendliness and helpfulness of the employees of Hy-Vee. Their jobs are not easy, especially during this pandemic. The draw area for grocery items is larger than Windom. It includes customers from surrounding areas. In the future there will be additional needs from the hundreds of new employees who will be entering the workforce at HyLife. At present, shelves are often empty of product. Windom and Cottonwood County deserve a greater supply of groceries. I encourage Windom residents to reach out to our city council, our city's EDA department and Hy-Vee headquarters to pursue a solution to this problem. Easily, our population can support at least two grocery stores. Also, it would be good for our community to have more choices. - Dianne Beens, Windom
