City leaders should address grocery needs

It is Thursday night and I just returned from shopping at our local grocery store.
It is clear to me that Windom's single grocery store struggles to keep up with the needs of the city's nearly 5,000 residents, plus residents of the surrounding area. Bananas were sold out completely and there were shortages of other products in the store.
Meanwhile, the city wants to build dorms so that more people can be housed in town. With only one grocery store that can't keep up with the current population, how will one grocery store handle the influx of people living in the dorms?
Another question that I have pertains to the city wanting to enlarge the liquor store, or build a new one.
I think that the Windom Economic Development Authority should be using its time to secure another grocery store or a larger supermarket to serve this community. They are spending taxpayers' money for a study to determine if there's a need for a larger modern liquor store.
The city does make a considerable amount of money on a municipal liquor store, but is it more important than having a selection of food readily available?
