Moede fondly recalls impact of former Windom teacher

I always say growing up in Windom helped build my Christian foundation.
I read in the Citizen about the passing of JoAnne Cowan. I had the blessing of having here for my seventh grade history teacher. What an outstanding person and teacher!
I remember Mrs. Cowan for her knowledge, enthusiasm and such kindness. Her classroom was right next to my dad's office in the old, old junior high!
I guess I have to say that now, since I am so old, there has been a junior high, middle school, etc. The old junior high had creaky wood floors!
Those are great memories, but also a reminder of how valuable are our teachers to our communities. They help build the foundation of our children.
Mrs. Cowan surely was an important teacher in my life and so very many more lives. God bless the memory of JoAnne Cowan, my sympathy to Tom and the entire family.
