Lancers pull past Falcons Thursday

Canby 25-25-17-25 = 3
RRC 23-20-25-18 = 1

The Red Rock Central volleyball team ran into a roadblock Thursday night, falling 3-1 to Canby in a match played in Lamberton.

The Lancers raced to a quick start, leading 7-0 in the opening set. RRC battled back, eventually taking a lead, but the Lancers used a 6-0 run late in the set to claim a 25-23 win.

Canby then claimed set two 25-20 before the Falcons battled back, winning set three 25-17. But Canby again used a pair of lengthy scoring runs in the fourth set, pulling away for a 25-18 win to close out the match.

Canby used a strong presence at the net, recording eight solo blocks as a team to bottle up the Falcon attack.

RRC was led at the net by Karli Arkell with 20 kills. Nicole Schroepfer added 15 kills.

Bianca Weis went 12-of-13 serving with two aces. Arkell was 19-of-19 with an ace. Schroepfer went 7-of-8 with an ace and Lilly Stavnes went 27-of-27 serving, sparking a series of Falcon scoring rallies.
