Eagle girls take second, boys third; two earn all-conference
Two Windom Eagle girls earned All-Big South Conference cross country honors at Saturday's conference meet, held at Redwood Falls.
The Eagle girls finished as the runner-up in the small school division of the meet, scoring 57 points. Luverne won the conference title with 21 points.
Windom's boys claimed a tight battle for third in the conference meet with 90 points. St. James Area won the boys' team title with 39 points.
Individually, Eagle senior Gracie Bucher and eighth-grader Kaylee Walklin each earned all-conference honors for the Windom girls. Bucher placed third overall in the meet with a time of 19:46, while Walklin placed fourth with a time of 20:09.
Jadyn Wormstadt finished 18th (21:52), followed by Haidyn Sammons in 19th (21:59) and Hadley Sammons in 22nd (22:07).
For the boys, senior Chance Elness was named honorable mention all-conference after leading the Eagles with a 12th-place time of 17:48. Aaden Nauman placed 17th (18:12), followed by Conner Redman in 18th (18:15), Cameron Alm in 21st (18:19) and Charlie Smith in 22nd (18:20).
