Eagle boys win BSC triangular
The Windom Eagle boys cross country team picked up its first meet victory of the season Tuesday, winning a Big South Conference triangular at the Windom Country Club.
The Eagle boys finished with 31 team points. Pipestone placed second with 41.
Windom's girls placed second in their triangular with 50 points. Luverne won the team title with 23 points.
Individually for the Eagle boys, senior Chance Elness turned in a solid performance, finishing as the meet runner-up with a time of 18:13. Conner Redman placed fifth overall with a time of 18:47, followed by Cameron Alm in seventh (18:49), Hunter Walklin in eighth (19:03) and Aaden Nauman in ninth (19:10). Charlie Smith placed 10th (19:19), giving the Eagles six top-10 finishers.
Windom's girls were led by senior Gracie Bucher, who captured third in the meet (20:43). Kaylee Walklin placed sixth (21:10), followed by Jadyn Wormstadt in 12th (22:56), Haidyn Sammons in 14th (23:19) and Hadley Sammons in 15th (23:26).
The Mt. Lake Area cross country team swept a dual meet Tuesday against Heron Lake-Okabena, run at Voss Park in Butterfield.
The Wolverine girls recorded a perfect score of 15 for the meet to HLO's score of 47.
Meanwhile, the Wolverine boys finished with 20 points. HLO scored 41.
MLA's girls were led by a strong showing from senior Anika Fast, who captured the meet individual title with a time of 22:22. Riley Schroeder placed second (22:45), followed by Sara Quiring in third (22:57), Lydia Rete in fourth (23:20) and Kate Janzen in fifth (23:36).
The Wolverine boys were led by individual champion Sam Pidde, who finished with a time of 17:33. Kody Wassman placed third (17:52), followed by Kaleb Eickhoff in fourth (18:36), Zach Klassen in fifth (18:43) and Cayden LaPointe in seventh (19:02).
