MSHSL reinstates volleyball, football for fall
At a special meeting Monday, the Minnesota State High School League Board of Directors voted 14-4 to reinstate volleyball for the fall sports season.
The board then voted 15-3 to reinstate football for the fall sports season.
Volleyball practices will being Sept. 28, with the first matches beginning Oct. 8. There will be 14 dual matches, with an 11-week season.
Spectators will not be allowed in a school setting. In a non-school setting, crowds of 25% capacity, up to 250 people, will be allowed.
Additionally, masks will be required for coaches and players sitting on the bench, but not players on the court.
For football, the board voted to allow a six-week regular season with a two-week, localized postseason. There will likely not be a state tournament.
Practices for football will begin Sept. 28, with the first games scheduled for Oct. 9.
Up to 250 spectators will be allowed in socially-distanced stands.
