9/18/2020 11:13:00 AM Eagle girls win triangular at Worthington; MLA sweeps Adrian Dual
BSC Triangular The Windom Eagle girls cross country team fielded a full lineup for the first time this season and immediately showed its muscle Thursday, winning a three-team meet at the former Prairie View Golf Course in Worthington.
The Eagle girls finished with 31 team points. Redwood Valley was second with 33 points.
The Eagle boys placed third in their triangular with 47 points. Worthington won the team title with 29 points.
Individually for the Eagle girls, senior Gracie Bucher turned in a season-best performance, running away with the victory in a time of 19:55. Kaylee Walklin, in her varsity debut, placed second (20:32) while Jadyn Wormstadt added a career-best time of 21:49 to place fourth. Haidyn Sammons finished 11th (22:58) and Hadley Sammons took 13th (23:17) to round out the Eagle scorers.
For the boys, Windom had three top-10 finishers, led by Cameron Alm's fifth-place time of 17:14. Chance Elness placed eighth (17:23) and Conner Redman took 10th (17:59). Aaden Nauman finished 11th (18:02) and Hunter Walklin placed 13th (18:17) to round out the Eagle scorers.
MLA at Adrian Dual The Mt. Lake Area cross country team swept a dual meet Thursday at the Adrian Country Club.
The Wolverine girls defeated Adrian-Ellsworth in a head-to-head dual. MLA finished with 18 team points while AE finished with 42.
Meanwhile, for the boys, the MLA team split into two squads, with the MLA Maroon team winning the meet with 31 points. MLA Silver was second with 33 and AE finished with 64.
Individually for the girls, Riley Schroeder captured her first career meet title, finishing with a time of 23:37. Anika Fast was close behind, finishing second with a time of 23:58. Lydia Rete placed fourth (24:13), followed by Sara Quiring in fifth (24:25) and Kate Janzen in sixth (24:44).
For the boys, Sam Pidde captured the individual title running for the MLA Silver team, winning with a time of 18:48.
Leading MLA Maroon to the meet title was the trio of Kody Wassman, Zach Klassen and Kaleb Eickhoff. Wassman took second overall (19:12), followed closely by Klassen in third (19:19) and Eickhoff in fourth (19:34). Luke Klassen placed eighth (20:41) and Damon Holmen placed 17th (23:36).
Other scorers for MLA Silver were Caden Swoboda in fifth (20:19), Cayden LaPointe in sixth (20:21), Ben Bartsch in 11th (21:27) and Zak Zimmerman in 12th (21:56).
