Cobras fall twice; Bobcats sweep triangular
Cobras fall to Cards, Arrows
The Windom-Mt. Lake wrestling team took a pair of heartbreaking losses Thursday night in Pipestone, falling 40-39 to Redwood Valley and 41-36 to Pipestone.
Against Redwood Valley, the Cobras held the lead, but the Cardinals won four of the final five weight classes, including a dramatic fall at heavyweight with just one second left on the clock to clinch the come-from-behind win.
WML had falls from Tucker Renquist (113), Brett Willaby (138), Trenton Renquist (145) and Alex Altman (220). Caden Swoboda (120) added a decision win and WML received two forfeit victories.
Against Pipestone, the Arrows won five of the final seven weights, with three forfeit victories ultimately giving the Arrows an insurmountable lead.
Tucker Renquist (113), Keith Swenson (182) and Eli Mutz (285) won by fall for the Cobras. Swoboda (120) and Willaby (145) added decision wins. The Cobras added two forfeit victories.
Bobcats win twice
Wabasso-Red Rock Central picked up a pair of victories Thursday at a triangular in Lake Crystal.
WRRC opened with a 39-27 win over Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial, then claimed a 42-25 win over LeSueur-Henderson.
Against LCWM, the Bobcats had falls from Zak Zimmerman (120), Mason Irlbeck (145), Josh Hesse (152), Lance Wagner (182), Derek Werner (220) and Cory Anderson (285). Hayden Determan (160) added a decision win.
Against LSH, WRRC had falls from Irlbeck (145), Hesse (152), Determan (160), Tyler Bliss (170) and Anderson (285). WRRC added two forfeit victories.
