Cobras fall twice
The Windom-Mt. Lake wrestling team dropped a pair of section duals Tuesday night in Adrian, falling 51-22 to Adrian and 42-28 to Minneota.
Against Adrian, the Cobras got off to a good start. Tucker Renquist (106) won by technical fall. Caden Swoboda (120) won by fall, making the score 11-6. Kade Sammons (132) added a technical fall, giving the Cobras a 16-12 lead. Then, trailing 18-16, Brett Willaby (145) and Micah Holmberg (152) each won by decision, giving the Cobras a 22-18 lead.
But the Dragons closed out the match with three forfeits, two falls and a decision, sealing the victory.
Against Minneota, the Cobras tied the match at 3-3 with a decision win by Renquist at 113. Swoboda won by decision at 126. Sammons added a major decision win at 132, giving the Cobras a 10-9 lead. Willaby added a fall at 145, giving WML a 15-12 lead. But Minneota rallied, winning two falls and two forfeits to seal the win.
Alex Altman added a pin at 195 and Eli Mutz won by fall at 285.
Bobcats pick up win
Wabasso-Red Rock Central earned a victory in dual meet action Tuesday, topping Quad County 51-18 at Lamberton.
Earning falls for the Bobcats were Adryen Tietz (106) and Vander Mathiowetz (152). Carter Beranek (120), Chase Irlbeck (138) and Mason Irlbeck (145) added decision victories. WRRC won the final five weight classes by forfeit.
