Eagle girls skate past Panthers

Windom Area 2-0-0 = 2
Rochester Century 0-0-0 = 0

After a shaky offensive outing Thursday, the Windom Area girls hockey team rebounded Saturday, taking an early lead and making it stand in a 2-0 shutout win at Rochester Century.

The Eagles outshot the Panthers 22-18 for the game, including a 7-2 edge in the second period.

The Eagles did all of their offensive damage in the first period. Elly Bang got Windom on the board first, scoring an unassisted goal at the 13:03 mark of the first period. Then, with just 43 seconds left in the opening period, Marissa Becker intercepted the puck and scored on an unassisted breakaway, giving the Eagles a 2-0 lead.

The Eagle defense stood firm the rest of the way, as Eagle goalie Kaylie Baerg turned away all 18 shots she faced for the shutout victory.
