1/10/2020 8:44:00 AM Wolverine girls roll past Chargers; Falcons fall to unbeaten Patriots
WWG 27-08 = 35 MLAC 46-23 = 69 The Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey girls basketball team got off to a red-hot start on offense and dominated on defense in the second half Thursday, rolling to a 69-35 win over Westbrook-Walnut Grove at Mt. Lake.
The Wolverine defense forced 22 turnovers in the game as MLAC raced to a 46-27 halftime lead. The Wolverines then held WWG to two field goals and eight points in the second half, punctuating the win.
Margo Stoesz led the Wolverines with 17 points. Anika Fast came off the bench to score a career-high 14 and Brooke Naas added 13 points in the win.
Alli VandeKieft and Camryn Bunting each scored 11 points for the Chargers.
RRC 21-28 = 49 HBC 27-33 = 60 Hills-Beaver Creek stayed undefeated for the season Thursday, pulling away in the second half for a 60-49 victory over Red Rock Central at Hills.
The Falcons hung tough early, as the Patriots held a six-point halftime lead. But RRC couldn't find balance on offense, which allowed the Patriots to maintain the lead and eventually pull away in the second half.
Nicole Schroepfer and Karli Arkell each scored 19 points for the Falcons in the loss.
