Cobras split in opening triangular
Cobras 48, Cardinals 15
Trojans 57, Cobras 15
A shorthanded Windom-Mt. Lake wrestling team opened the 2019-20 season with a triangular split Thursday in Windom.
WML defeated Luverne 48-15, but lost 57-15 to Worthington.
The Cobras were without several wrestlers who had not started practice after the Mt. Lake Area football team's Prep Bowl run. As a result, the Cobras forfeited five weights in both matches - three of which resulted in double forfeits against Luverne.
Against Luverne, the Cobras received falls from Tucker Renquist (106), Kade Sammons (138), Adlai Santibanez (145) and Esteban Sandoval (160). WML received for forfeit victories.
Against Worthington, the Cobras had falls from Sammons (138) and Eli Mutz (285). Caden Swoboda (126) added a decision for the only other Cobra victory.
