JCC 15-21-23 = 0 Windom 25-25-25 = 3 The Windom Eagle volleyball team got off to a fast start in each set Tuesday night, claiming a 3-0 sweep over Jackson County Central at Windom.
The Eagles started the match with an 8-0 run, rolling to a 25-15 victory in the first set. The Eagles then opened up big leads in each of the following sets. JCC mounted a late surge in set two, then closed to within 24-23 in set three before the Eagles closed out the set and the match.
Windom was led at the service line by Halle Jackson, who went 19-of-19 with an ace. Katelyn Nichols was 16-of-17. Meadow Espenson was 8-of-9 with an ace and Ericka Appel went 10-for-10.
At the net, Nichols led the way with 12 kills. Autumn Hauge added 10 kills. Nichols finished with six solo blocks while Hauge and Delaney Smith each had four.
Jackson handed out 12 set assists. Reegan Elder added nine assists. Jackson had a team-high nine digs.
MLA 25-25-25 = 3 SWC 20-14-18 = 0 Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey got momentum early and carried it through the match Tuesday, claiming a 3-0 sweep over Southwest Minnesota Christian at Edgerton.
The Wolverines bombed away from the service line, firing 18 ace serves as a team. Destiny Sybounheuan led the way, going 14-of-16 with five aces. Margo Stoesz added four aces on 10-of-13 serving and Bileigh Anacker had three aces on 13-of-15 serving.
Stoesz led the Wolverines with 13 kills. Megan McCue and Kirsten Myers added four kills each.
Sybounheuan handed out 20 set assists. Sophie Carrison led a stellar night in the back row with eight digs.
