Eagles sweep Trojans

Windom 25-25-25 = 3
Worthington 13-09-18 = 0

The Windom Eagle volleyball team opened Big South Conference West Division play Thursday, cruising to a 3-0 sweep at Worthington.

The Eagles raced to early leads in each set. Worthington made a run to take the lead in the third set before the Eagles regained control, closing out the victory.

Katelyn Nichols led the Eagles at the net, blasting 13 kills and recording eight solo blocks. Autumn Hauge chipped in nine kills and three blocks while Delaney Smith had three kills and four blocks.

Hauge led the Eagles at the service line, going 18-of-20 with three aces. Ericka Appel was 12-of-13 with two aces and Nichols went 8-of-8 with an ace.

Halle Jackson handed out a team-high 23 set assists and had a team-high five digs.

RRC 15-14-18 = 0
Adrian 25-25-25 = 3

Red Rock Central struggled to get its offense going Thursday night, dropping a 3-0 decision at Adrian.

The Dragons kept the Falcons out of system much of the night, firing six ace serves and forcing 18 attack errors by RRC hitters.

RRC tried to battle back from a 2-0 deficit but Adrian was able to hold off a surge in the third set to close out the match.

Karli Arkell led the Falcons with seven kills. Nicole Schroepfer had five kills and Kierra Highby added four.

At the service line, Arkell went 9-of-9 with two aces. Carissa Erickson was 12-of-12 serving.

Erickson had a team-high 10 set assists. Bianca Weis finished with 14 digs.

WWG 23-25-20-25-04 = 2
MCC 25-16-25-23-15 = 3

After four sets of a back-and-forth slugfest Thursday, Murray County Central seized control early in the fifth set and never looked back, claiming a 3-2 victory over Westbrook-Walnut Grove in Slayton.

WWG shook off a tough first set loss to win set two 25-16. After dropping the third set, WWG answered, winning set four 25-23.

But MCC's late momentum from the fourth set carried into set five, with the Rebels rolling to a 15-4 victory.

Halle Steen led the Chargers from the service line, going 23-of-24 with five aces. Kelly Berglund went 17-of-17 with an ace.

Kelsey DeSmith and Madison Dennistoun each finished with six kills. Steen recorded 25 set assists and Emma Wahl finished with 20 digs in the loss for WWG.
