Eagle spikers sweep New Ulm in opener

New Ulm 19-15-19 = 0
Windom 25-25-25 = 3

The Windom Eagle volleyball team opened the 2019 season strong Saturday morning, claiming a 3-0 sweep over New Ulm at the Big South Conference Showcase in Redwood Falls.

The Eagles raced out to comfortable leads in all three sets. New Ulm rallied in the first and third sets before Windom was able to close things out.

Windom had a big day at the net from seniors Katelyn Nichols and Autumn Hauge. Nichols finished with 20 kills and two solo blocks. Hauge added 17 kills and four solo blocks.

Hauge led the Eagles from the service line, going 11-of-12 with two aces. Reegan Elder added two aces on 7-of-9 serving and Ericka Appel went 9-of-10 with an ace.

Halle Jackson finished with a team-high 19 set assists. Elder added 12 assists. Shelby Erickson had a team-high four digs.
