Pirates fall in game one of Region 13C playoffs

Windom 000 210 000 = 3-4-1
Hadley 100 000 201 = 4-5-2

The Windom Pirates fell in walk-off fashion Wednesday night, taking a 4-3 loss to Hadley in the opening game of the Region 13C best-of-three series at Pipestone.

Hadley tied the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the seventh, then loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the ninth before winning on a sacrifice fly by Nick Bruning.

Trailing 1-0 in the fourth, the Pirates took the lead on a two-run Jacob Johnson single.

Windom stretched its lead to 3-1 in the fifth on a Noah Kloss RBI single.

Hadley tied the game in the seventh with an RBI double by Bruning and an Eric Wieneke RBI single.

The Pirates were held to four hits in the game.

Ross Ackerman worked the first 6-2/3 innings in the game. Kobe Lovell took the pitching loss, working 1-2/3 innings in relief. He allowed a run on two hits while striking out two.

Game two of the best-of-three series will be played Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Windom Recreation Area. If the Pirates win, game three of the series will be played Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Windom Recreation Area.
