Jackson County Central scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning Thursday, pulling past the Windom Eagle fastpitch team for a 6-2 win in the Section 3AA playoffs at Pipestone.

The loss ended the Eagles' season with a 10-9-1 overall record.

The Eagles took the lead in the top of the first on an Allison Letcher RBI single.

JCC tied the game in the bottom of the first. Then, in the bottom of the sixth, the Huskies strung together three hits, beat out a pair of fielder's choice plays and scored two runs on an error to take a 6-1 lead.

Windom had loaded the bases in the third inning with one out but could not score. Then, the Eagles tried to mount a comeback in the seventh, scoring on a Letcher RBI single and again loading the bases with one out. But a pop-up and a strikeout ended the game.

Letcher led the Eagles with three hits in the game.

Ellie Maricle took the pitching loss, allowing six runs on five hits without a walk. She struck out five.

Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey rallied from a pair of early deficits Thursday, using a five-run fifth inning to pull away for an 8-2 win over Sleepy Eye in the Section 2A playoffs at Mt. Lake.

Trailing 1-0 in the fourth, the Wolverines tied the game at 1-1 on a Hailey Pidde RBI double.

Sleepy Eye regained the lead in the top of the fifth, but the Wolverines answered by sending 10 hitters to the plate and scoring four runs, taking command of the game.

Taylor Naas hit an RBI single and Molly Carnell followed with a two-run double. Rylie Tollefson added an RBI single and Carnell scored when Margo Stoesz reached on an error.

MLAC added two insurance runs in the sixth on a Carnell RBI single and a Tollefson groundout.

Carnell led the Wolverines with two hits and three RBI. Destiny Sybounheaun, Naas, Tollefson and Lexi Toll each added two hits.

Carnell earned the pitching win, allowing two runs on 10 hits without a walk. She struck out five.

Knights 3, Falcons 2
Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove saw its season come to an end Thursday with a 3-2 loss to Russell-Tyler-Ruthton in the Section 3A playoffs at Edgerton.
