Section 3AA Girls Two Windom Eagle girls golfers advanced to the second day of the Section 3AA Tournament, after their performance on day one of the tournament Wednesday at Oakdale Golf Club near Buffalo Lake.
The Eagle girls finished eighth in the team standings, shooting a 393 team score. The top five teams in the field advance to the second day of team competition. Minnewaska/Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa held the team lead after the first day of the tournament, shooting a 347 team score.
Individually, senior Paige Pigman and sophomore Lily Mellstrom both advanced to the second day of the tournament. Pigman scored an 85 on the opening day and sits in a tie for fourth place after the first day of competition. Mellstrom scored a 94 and is tied for 20th going into the final day.
Allie Ward finished the day with a 105, Miranda Cory with a 109 and Josie Alvstad had a 116 for the Eagle girls.
The first day of the boys section tournament is today at Oakdale.
Section 3A Boys Heron Lake-Okabena-Fulda ended the first day of the Section 3A Boys Golf tournament with the team lead Wednesday morning at GreatLife Golf Club in Worthington.
HLOF scored a 364 team total. Red Rock Central was fifth with a 400 while Westbrook-Walnut Grove finished eighth with a 409.
Justin Klabunde led RRC, shooting a 97 to finish tied for 13th place. Sam Dammann added a 98, followed by Cade Bittner with a 101, Theo Berg with a 104, Andrew Hagert with a 111 and Mason Gode with a 109.
Individually for WWG, Andrew Quade shot an opening-round 89, good for a tie for fourth place. Nathan Kuehl had a 96, Brady Ross a 104. Ben Olson and Hunter Lien each shot a 120 and Nathan Ross had a 125.
Section 3A Girls Murray County Central's girls held the team lead after the opening day of the Section 3A Tournament Wednesday at GreatLife Golf Club in Worthington.
MCC shot a 407. Westbrook-Walnut Grove was third with a 437. Red Rock Central was seventh with a 549.
Senior Brittany Erickson led WWG's girls, shooting a 97 to sit in third place after the opening day of the tournament. Halle Steen shot a 110, followed by Lexi Herding and Emma Wahl each with a 115, Ivy Paplow with a 136 and Kate Jorgenson with a 152.
Carley Baumann led RRC's girls, shooting a 108 to sit in a tie for eighth place after the first day of the tournament. Bailey Timm shot a 132, followed by Carlee Sell with a 146, Jenna Paplow with a 163, Alexis Weber with a 169 and Hailey Teveldal with a 183.
