Windom 601 106 1 = 15-16-1 Blue Earth 005 000 0 = 5-4-2 The Windom fastpitch team slugged out 16 hits Saturday, rolling to a 15-5 victory at Blue Earth.
Windom started the game fast, plating six runs in the top of the first inning. Halle Jackson hit an RBI single, Paige Vancura hit a two-run single and Allison Letcher smashed a three-run home run.
In the third, Jenna Brockman lined an RBI single for a 7-0 lead. The Bucs battled back, scoring five runs in the bottom of the third, but the Eagles padded the lead in the fourth on an RBI single from Reegan Elder.
The Eagles put the game away with six runs in the sixth. Two runs scored when Jenna Brockman reached on an error. Vancura laced a two-run single and Kaitlee Huska ripped a two-run single.
The final Eagle run scored on a solo home run by Jackson in the seventh.
Huska, Jackson and Vancura each had three hits in the win.
Ellie Maricle earned the complete-game pitching win, scattering four hits. She walked two and struck out nine.
St. James 100 001 0 = 2-7-2 Windom 000 000 0 = 0-0-1 The Windom fastpitch team couldn't get the bats going against St. James pitcher Addie Bowers Friday, as the Saints claimed a 2-0 win at the Windom Recreation Area.
Bowers tossed a complete-game no-hitter, walking four and striking out 11.
The Eagles had scoring threats in the game, thanks to a pair of Saint errors and the four walks. Windom left runners in scoring position in four innings and had one runner thrown out attempting to steal third.
Both St. James runs scored on wild pitches.
Eagle pitcher Ellie Maricle took the loss, allowing seven hits and two walks while striking out seven.
Cleveland 000 000 2 = 2-9-0 MLAC 030 010 x = 4-10-0 Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey picked up a key section victory on the softball diamond Friday in Mt. Lake, toppling Cleveland 4-2.
The Wolverines jumped to a quick 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. Hailey Pidde laced an RBI double, Jaelin Renquist hit an RBI single and Taylor Naas drew a bases-loaded walk.
MLAC added an insurance run in the fifth on an Margo Stoesz sacrifice fly.
The Clippers scored twice in the top of the seventh and had the potential go-ahead run at the plate with no outs, but a pair of pop-outs and a groundout ended the threat and the game.
Molly Carnell and Brooke Naas each had two hits in the Wolverine win.
Carnell earned the pitching victory, allowing nine hits and striking out 10.
T/ML/GHEC 202 001 0 = 5-6-0 RRC/WWG 110 030 1 = 6-10-1 Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove rallied in the fifth inning, then earned a walk-off win when Hannah Nelson scored on an error in the bottom of the seventh, giving the Falcons a 6-5 win over Truman/Martin Luther/Granada-Huntley-East Chain Friday in Sanborn.
RRC/WWG scored on a Bianca Weis RBI single in the first inning, then tied the game at 2-2 in the second on a Sophie Bellig RBI double.
Trailing 4-2 in the fifth, the Falcons took a 5-4 lead. Kaitlyn Rindfleisch hit an RBI double, Nelson hit an RBI single and Nicole Schroepfer cracked an RBI double.
The Jaguars tied the game in the top of the sixth, but in the seventh, RRC/WWG rallied with two outs. Nelson singled, advanced on a wild pitch and scored when Weis reached on an error.
Haley Simonson and Nelson had two hits each in the win.
Kennedi Janssen earned the pitching victory, allowing six hits and five walks while fanning five.
