ML grad Kirk invited to Seahawks mini-camp
2014 Mt. Lake Public High School graduate Carter Kirk has been invited to take part in the Seattle Seahawks rookie mini-camp.
Kirk, who played in two state football tournaments in high school, played collegiate basketball at Southwest Minnesota State University after graduating from high school. After four years of basketball at SMSU, Kirk used his final semester of eligibility last fall, playing on the SMSU football team.
After playing quarterback in high school, Kirk transitioned to tight end at SMSU and will try out for the NFL's Seahawks as a tight end.
Kirk said that he heads to Seattle Thursday for a three-day rookie mini-camp, playing alongside the Seahawks draftees, undrafted free agents and younger players on the Seattle roster.
After the rookie mini-camp, the Seahawks will have the option to sign Kirk as an undrafted free agent, which would mean he would return to Seattle later in the month for the start of the team's off-season organized team activities. Training camp is scheduled to begin in July.
