Eagles top Rebels, improve to 2-0

Windom 332 03 = 11-14-0
MCC 100 00 = 1-3-2

Chilly weather and a light mist didn't stop the hot start by the Windom Eagle offense Thursday, as the Eagles rolled to an 11-1, five-inning victory over Murray County Central at Slayton.

The Eagles hammered out 14 hits in the game, and five Eagle pitchers combined to hold the Rebels to one run on three hits.

Windom's offense started fast, scoring three runs in the top of the first inning. Kobe Lovell smashed a two-run double and later scored on a wild pitch.

MCC answered in the bottom of the first, scoring on an RBI single by Mason Woldt.

But the Eagles expanded the lead in the bottom of the second. Brandyn Sanow laced on RBI single, Eric Pfeffer then beat out a bunt single, putting runners at the corners. Andrew Quiring followed with a two-run double, giving the Eagles a 6-1 lead.

In the third, the Eagles scored a pair of runs on a throwing error.

Then, in the top of the fifth, the Eagles plated a run on an errant pickoff attempt and got a two-run single from Alex Borsgard.

Pfeffer and Quiring each had three hits in the game, with Quiring plating a pair of runs. Lovell had two hits and two RBI. Conner Redman added a pair of hits.

Kade Sammons picked up the pitching win, working 1-2/3 innings of hitless relief. He walked two and struck out one.
