Madelia 16-16 = 32
MLAC 28-37 = 65

Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey roared to life in the second half Tuesday night, as the top-seeded Wolverines raced to a 65-32 win over Madelia in the Section 2A playoffs in Mt. Lake.

The Wolverines held a 12-point halftime lead, but cranked up the defensive pressure in the second half, turning several steals into scoring chances.

That allowed MLAC to outscore the Blackhawks 37-16 in the second half and pull away for the win.

Margo Stoesz had the hot hand for the Wolverines, pouring in 29 points in the win. Taylor Naas chipped in 11.

RRC 20-43 = 63
SWC 34-36 = 70

Red Rock Central erased a 14-point halftime deficit, tying the game with under five minutes to go. But a key three-pointer gave Southwest Christian the lead, and free throws sealed a 70-63 victory over RRC in the Section 3A playoffs at Worthington.

In the first half, SWC held the Falcon offense in check, building a 34-20 halftime advantage.

But in the second half, RRC came out hot. Senior Haley Simonson scored 16 of her team-high 20 points. Kaitlyn Rindfleisch added 11 second-half points and Nicole Schroepfer added nine second-half points.

Back-to-back steals and driving lay-ups for Schroepfer tied the game at 51-51. The game remained back-and-forth until a three-pointer by SWC's Jazlynn Prins gave the Eagles a 59-56 lead and free throws stretched the lead to 61-56.

RRC cut the deficit to three with under two minutes to go, but SWC's Maren Nerem went 6-of-7 from the line in the second half. As a team, SWC was 15-of-25 from the free throw line in the second half.

Simonson led RRC with 20 points in the loss. Rindfleisch scored 15 points and Schroepfer added 12.
